Splint is a supportive device used to keep in place any suspected fracture in person’s arm or leg. It provides pain relief to fractured limb, supports both end of the fracture side and helps prevent bone protruding through skin and tissue damage & bleeding.
In emergency cases there are many things that can be used for sprinting, but flexible and rigid are two types of splints. Traction splint is very useful emergency tool when you are dealing with fumer facture; it increases arterial blood flow as far as decrease pain and spasm which reduces the risk of further injury.
Traction splints are used to immobilize femur fractures. They are compromised of straps that attach over pelvis as an anchor, a mechanical device to apply traction and metal rods to mimic bone stability.
Air splints are essentially large air bladder that are initially deflected and wrapped around the affected extremity after application they are inflated to provide rigidity through air pressure.
In early days, sticks and tree limbs were used as splint, also they secured with items like belts, rope, or even torn strips of cloth.
Now, sticks and tree limbs are replaced by padded and triangular cloth bandages that are used to sling and swathe factures. There are also ladder splints that can be bent to better hold to the shape of the affected extremity.
DESCO MEDICAL INDIA provides different types of ambulance splints that include Traction Splint set, Air Splint set and Rolling Splint Adjustable.
